This post breaks my heart. It was only one short year ago that I joined Matthew and his family to road trip down to San Diego to celebrate his and Mia’s birthdays. Unfortunately, blogging takes me a while, and unfortunately, as of a few months ago, he has chosen to pursue some other relationship instead of cherishing everything we had together. So some other girl will celebrate with him for the first time in the last 8 years (this would have been the 7th together, because I had juuuust met him right around his birthday 8 years ago). And I’ll have no idea what they’ll be up to; all I get is to remember both fondly and painfully the last 8 beautiful years together. It kills me that I can’t be there for his birthday (or any other major life event coming up); birthdays mean a lot to me. Sigh. Such is life.
